The effects of a very hot spell are reduced by reflecting as much sunlight off the roof as possible, by the use of an Aluminium paint.

Luckily I painted the roof at the beginning of July 2013, just before a prolonged period of high temperatures between Saturday 6 July and Thursday 24 July.

This will also reduce heat radiation due to a lower emissivity.
